Software Engineer III, Historical Market Data Services (Greenwich, CT) (multiple positions).
Build, improve, and maintain a highly sophisticated system for near real time archival and retrieval of historical market data and market scanners for online financial brokerage firm. Originate and implement changes to existing systems, and scale the existing systems ahead of increase in quotation volumes to ensure efficient system operations. Create high-level and detailed design based on functional specifications. Design algorithms and structures for existing systems and perform any necessary research needed to complete such designs. Implement, test, fine-tune, and deploy new software features, as well as perform maintenance, production configuration required for rolling out new functionality, and technical support for features of online trading software. In addition, review the changes made by other developers to ensure that the correct market data values are exposed on the appropriate systems, both internally and externally, and assist fellow employees with issues relating to historical market data services and the market scanner system. Set up production processes, troubleshoot production setup and configuration.
Requires Masters degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field and three years of experience in job offered or a related software development position working for the financial services industry, or in the alternative, a Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, and five years of experience in the job offered, or a related software development position working for the financial services industry.
Experience must include three years with: 1) Unix/Linux computing environments and scripting; 2) C+
with 32/64 bit targets, STL and/or Boost, multi-threading, OO programming/design; 3) data-structures and very large database systems and their performance; 4) advanced data processing algorithms; 5) Developing low-latency software for online financial trading; 6) Optimizing/Profiling systems for low latency, high frequency trading; and 7) developing market scanners for online financial trading.
